Wright Brothers Spitalfields

Wright Brothers Spitalfields

| Shoreditch, Clerkenwell

This is the third London opening for the oyster and seafood restaurant, following Soho and Borough Market. Expect a similar offering of seafood and oysters at this Spitalfields location - but with a huge seawater tank into the middle of the restaurant stacked with 10,000 shellfish allowing diners to choose their own live crab, lobster or oysters.

"(The crab cakes) were pure crab, a great combination of light and dark meat making them rust-coloured, moist and deep." READ REVIEW

"...there are few delights to match spending an afternoon with a friend devouring a dozen seafood items at their freshest and best. If the Wright Brothers are determined to re-invent seafood all over the nation, I'll fly with them all the way." READ REVIEW

"It has vitality, helped along by a spiffing drinks list: good wines by the glass, good beers by the bottle. High stools at the bar counter encourage you to chat with your neighbour, and the staff are engaging and lovely. There are some formulas best not tampered with, and the classic seafood bar is one of them." READ REVIEW

"It is a serious seafood restaurant for people who really do like the stuff. The live crabs and lobsters in the tank are a statement of intent. It means business. So do you really have to choose which animal will die for you to get that full experience? No. But it probably helps." READ REVIEW

"The Channel Island oysters are chewy and sloppy rather than full of gristle; the brown shrimp are small and fresh and can be swallowed whole; the prawns come with a rich mayonnaise; the little whelks look disgusting and worm-like when fetched out of their shells, but taste delicious; and there's a whole heap of crab that, though messy, yields succulent and sweet brown meat from deep within its claws." "Kohlrabi sliced as thin as paper is dressed with a subtle vinaigrette and dainty ribbons of sorrel, each one unleashing just a modicum of sharpness. Only someone at one with ingredients could have put this together." READ REVIEW
