Cornerstone is selling its salmon pastrami and trout ham

This weekend, Hackney restaurant Cornerstone had its second birthday. But as they're currently closed for business, it was a bit of a quiet affair, marked only with a post on Instagram by chef and owner Tom Brown.

While the restaurant itself is closed, clearly Tom wants to keep busy so he's been making his 'sea-cuturie' cured salmon and trout available for pick up from his restaurant. The salmon…

Jackson Boxer's Brunswick House delivers a very seasonal menu (and very impressive sandwiches)

He's already serving a delivery menu at Orasay in Notting Hill, and now Jackson Boxer has also kicked off delivery across the river at Brunswick House in Vauxhall.

It's quite the extensive menu too - made up of both sandwiches and also food to be finished at home. The sandwiches sound extremely impressive, including "Fried Chicken Thigh, Bacon, ComtĂ© & Burnt Chilli Mayo (pictured above,…

Chefs at home - London's chefs are cooking for themselves during lockdown (24 April)

Looking for inspiration during lockdown? With chefs at home rather than in their restaurant kitchens, many of them are showing just what's possible to knock up in your own home. We've picked five of the best examples we've spotted on Instagram from the past week.  …

Rye by the Water returns to Brentford - and Darby's is delivering

Another much-appreciated local bakery-cafe has reopened for business. This time it's the turn of Rye by the Water in Brentford, which is backed by The Dairy's Robin Gill and Dan Joines. Back in the bakery is head baker Janine Edwards and she's currently baking croissants, pain au chocolates, olive and gruyere bread twists and - of course - sourdough bread.

Like many other bakeries and cafes, they…

Burger & Lobster returns for delivery

Next up on the comeback trail following lockdown is Burger and Lobster. They closed down originally just over a month ago, but now they've reopened their flagship Mayfair store (we're yet to hear if any more are due to open).

Obviously it's for delivery only, and while there's a limited menu on offer, Burger & Lobster has always had a limited menu. Right now it's their original burger (…

A free make-your-own Magnum kit is here

London may not be seeing the return of the Magnum Pleasure Store this year - for fairly obvious reasons - but that isn't stopping them. If you can't come to the Pleasure Store - it's coming to you.

Magnum are teaming up with Deliveroo for a new Make My Magnum kit. Which is essentially a kit for pimping your Magnum.

The kit contains a pack of Ruby Magnums (which we've become rather add…

Patron are launching their Maison Patron delivery service

Poor old Patron barely got a chance to open its second restaurant in Highbury before the shutters came down for lockdown. So we're pleased they've managed to sort out a new home delivery service at both their original Kentish Town restaurant and the new Highbury location.

The Maison Patron menu does sound just the ticket for when you want to pretend your North London flat is actually a bijoux apa…

Wild Tavern is back, with USDA steak and lobster pasta to take home

One of the Test Drives we did in the run-up to The Lockdown, was the rather wonderful Wild Tavern in Chelsea, from the same people behind Goodman and Burger & Lobster. Like many other restaurants, they've been closed since lockdown began but now they've emerged once more, kicking off a takeaway service for local Chelsea residents.

Their new takeaway menu is mainly about allowing y…

Lina Stores, the 75-year-old Italian Soho stalwart, launches its online deli

They were open in Soho for over 75 years before the lockdown hit, but that isn't keeping Lina Stores down. If you've been missing one of London's top Italian delis, the news that they've re-opened as an online-only shop should certainly help.

And it's a very fully-stocked online shop too, kicking off with something they've become best-known for - their pasta. They have fresh pasta ava…

London's Chinatown keeps its spirits up by getting chefs and restaurants to share recipes

London's Chinatown has certainly been one of the city's hardest-hit areas by Covid-19, having seen its business decimated weeks before the official lockdown started.

So it's good to hear about a new campaign to keep at least the spirit of the place alive, until we can visit again. #BringingChinatownHome is all about allowing Londoners to explore, take inspiration and enjoy Chinatown without leavi…

Arabica's new Mezze To Your Door service includes DIY falafel and more

We've made no bones about how much we enjoy the food at Arabica. So much so that if we're not popping into their King's Cross restaurant, we're grabbing stuff to go at their deli in Selfridges (obviously all of this pre-lockdown).

So we're quietly thankful that they've joined the growing ranks of restaurants offering a delivery service. Once a week they'll be sending out everything from falafel k…

One thing we've noticed since the lockdown began is that dining at home is becoming more and more interesting as restaurants devise new dishes and ways to deliver them into the hands of punters. If you've been feeling left out of this in South East London, then you'll be pleased to know that the latest to make this move are Klose and Soan, in charge of the food at Winemakers in Deptford (and…
