London's has some great success with night markets, most recently the Long Table in Dalston and Bermondsey's The StockMKT which is also returning (Bermondsey Square Friday 27th April 5.30-10.30pm). So it's great to hear of another weekly market opening just off Brick Lane.

The new market, Street Feast, will open on Friday May 4 and feature a number of the biggest names in London's g…

Trying out Greg Malouf's new menu at Petersham

With all the hoo-ha surrounding Skye Gyngell's departure from Petersham Nurseries Cafe which she raised - however unintentionally - to Michelin-star status, it was always going to be hard finding someone to fill her shoes. Hot Dinners was invited this week to pop down to Petersham to meet the man they think can do that and more - Australian chef Greg Malouf.

Malouf left his popular restaurant Mo M…

Fortnum and Mason put Heinz baked beans on the menuWith the likes of Her Majesty taking tea there you may be forgiven for thinking Fortnum & Mason to be a very rarefied type of place. But we hear there's a new dish on the menu there that has much more proletarian roots. The Piccadilly store's Gallery restaurant will this week be serving up a special dish of Roasted Fillet of Cod served with a Chorizo and Heinz Baked Bean Casserole. Yes, you re…

Draft House to open on Goodge Street in July

Clearly the answer to our question in this week's newsletter as to whether Soho or Noho was hotter as far as restaurants are concerned seems to have been answered in part by today's hot news that Draft House is now opening up there too.

Owner Charlie McVeigh has secured his first central London site on the corner of Charlotte Street & Goodge Street which used to be the Northumberland Arms. The…

The Craft Guild of Chefs may be an industry guild, but it's always interesting to see who other chefs rate in their profession. The guild, which sees over 1500 chefs and restaurant workers vote in the majority of categories, has just announced its shortlists for their 2012 awards and London restaurants have done pretty well.

Here are some of this year's key categories:

The restaurant at Claridges has been the focus of much speculation as Gordon Ramsay's tenure is due to end this year. While we're waiting to hear who will be taking up the reins full-time, news has reached us of a huge event taking place during the Olympics.

Looks like East London's coffee houses are expanding their market. Workshop Coffee Co (formerly known as St Ali) is the second place we've heard of in as many weeks (Shoreditch's Ozone was the first) which is extending its menu to include interesting beers, wines and hot food in addition to all manner of fine roasts that they serve up during the day.

Chase Distillery to launch new terrace bar at Harvey Nichols

Chase Distillery have been making a name for themselves recently, not least for their marmalade vodka.  And soon they're coming to town with a new terrace bar in Harvey Nichols. The idea is to evoke the lovely Herefordshire countryside that the vodka's made in, whilst sitting high above the Knightsbridge traffic. To that end, they're cunningly going to blast the terrace with Penhaligons Blenh…

Eat St goes west with new residency at Chelsea's Imperial Arms

Big news for fans of London's street food collective, Eat St: they're heading for a new London residency, but this time it's Chelsea rather than Peckham. Last year various vans set up shop at the Rye Hotel in Peckham - but they've gone upmarket this year taking over The Imperial Arms on King's Road. The Made in Chelsea crowd won't know what's hit them.

Rough in the Diamond, as the residency is cal…
