YBF Awards name Britain's rising stars of the food world

The Ribman wins a YBFFor the second time in a week, Hot Dinners found themselves in a room of gilded youth all connected with the food industry. Last week it was Zagat's 30 under 30, this week we were celebrating the inaugural Young British Foodies awards (aka the YBFs).

Held in Camden behind the York & Albany, last night's bash was very much about the current food scene, bringing in mixologists, food events as well as bright young things in the chef department. As you'd expect from such a street bash, the party food was quite different too with planks of canapes, mini bread boards of sourdough with Hansen & Lydersen's smoked salmon as well as two street vans - the legendary Rib Man and Street Kitchen's airstream parked out in the street outside.

The organisers said they'd been inspired by the YBA (Young British Artist) movement of the 1980s and certainly last night's awards felt like they had their finger firmly on the pulse of a burgeoning scene.

And the winners were:

  • Rising star of mixology: Geoff Robinson from Hoxton's Happiness Forgets (@happinesshoxton)
  • Mobile mover and shaker: Andy Waugh (The Wild Game Co (@wildgameco))
  • Best Food Experience Artist: Kevin Darcy (@platterform)
