It's fair to say that Marcus Wareing and Gordon Ramsay weren't on each other's Christmas card list last year. About a year ago, with an acrimonious split at Petrus in the offing, Wareing hit out at Ramsay during an interview with Waitrose magazine saying, among other things, "If I never speak to that guy for the rest of my life, it wouldn't bother me one bit." At the time, especially considering they had been friends since 19 and Ramsay was Wareing's best man, the comments caused a considerable stir.
The past year seems to have mellowed Wareing, as he finally admits that he should bear the lion's share of the blame for the break-up in a recent interview with the Sunday Times saying: “I was stubborn and I dug my heels in. I picked a fight to engineer the break. I don’t really think he did anything wrong — it was just me feeling how much I wanted to be on my own.”.
It remains to be seen if Ramsay will be willing to mend bridges too, especially with a new Petrus in the offing...
Elsewhere, more details about the London restaurant festival in October are creeping out:
- The Adnaz Hotel on Liverpool street will be hosting Bistrotheque's Supersonic Masonic Supper Club in its "Masonic Temple" for three days during the festival.
- Pierre Koffman's La Tante Claire will be coming back for one week only to Selfridges' roof, effectively becoming the hottest ticket of the festival
