Selfridges continues to forge ahead in terms of its food and drink offering with the news this week that Tonkotsu will be opening a brand new site there this week.
Why is this such good news? Well the ramen's pretty darned good, even hard-to-please Jay Rayner referred to it as being “what greed is for”. And, if you're already a fan of their Soho or Haggerston branches, then you'll be interested to learn the Oxford Street Tonkotsu will have its own exclusive dish.
Tonkotsu Selfridges will serve up an exclusive Chilli Chicken ramen alongside Edamame Beans, Pickled Cucumber and Gyoza. That'll feature an intense chicken broth, pulled chicken with Tonkotsu's Eat the Bits chilli oil and a marinated egg, £11.
Other ramens include their signature Tonkotsu, made with slices of pork belly and a pork stock broth and a miso variety made with Shiitake mushrooms.
Tonkotsu Selfridges will serve a range of London and Japanese beers including Yoho Beer, which is exclusive to Tonkotsu and the only restaurant in London to serve it. You'll find the newest branch with all counter dining at the back of Selfridges Food Hall by the new Turner and George butchers.
Hannah Bass, Selfridges Restaurants Director says “The team at Tonkotsu is committed to making their stock and noodles from scratch and as a result they offer the very best and most authentic ramen in London. We are delighted to welcome them to the Foodhall at Selfridges.”
Tonkotsu at Selfridges opens 10 October 2014 at Selfridges Food Hall, Oxford Street, London W1A 1AB
