The team behind The Dairy prepare to open The Manor in Clapham

The team behind The Dairy prepare to open The Manor in Clapham17/11 - Updated with soft launch details.

It's all go for the folk at The Dairy in Clapham. Just days after announcing their plans to expand sideways into the shop next door with The Delicatessen, now we hear that they're opening a second restaurant.

The Manor is a new modern bistro from the team behind the Dairy so that's chef Robin and his wife Sarah and partners Dean Parker and Dan Joines.

Situated on Clapham Manor Street, the Manor will see Dean or "Keen Dean" as Robin likes to call him heading up the kitchen. Dean has worked alongside Robin for nearly seven years, coupled with stints in Amass in Copenhagen, The Ledbury and Tom Aikens. As the new restaurant is just down the road from The Dairy, they'll still be able to use the produce from the rooftop garden and beehives, while Delicatessen will supply the homemade charcuterie.

The Manor's been given a major do-over, giving it a "a homely rustic bistro buzz". There'll be a long bar serving up a short but concise cocktail list and a wine list supplied by folk like Tutto Wines.

As for Dean's menu he'll have a substantial snack menu for the bar and an a la carte menu for the dining room. There'll be daily specials and he'll be cooking cuts of meat and fish slowly and on the bone where possible for "a more robust dining experience". The dining room will also feature a pastry dessert counter where they'll be baking bread and doing pastry work. Guests will be able to sit up at the pastry counter too.

The full menu has now been revealed (or an example - like the Dairy, expect it to change regularly). The dishes include...

  • Spiced beef droewors for £6.50  (South African style sausage),
  • Fermented potato flatbread with smokes aubergine and mint (£5.50)
  • Cod's head, sour cream, wakame and rice cracker (£5.50)
  • Aged hanger steak, scorched bone marrow, roasted onion tea (£10)
  • Suckling pork shoulder, braised head, morcilla and squash (£16.50)
  • Granny Smith apple parfait, meringue and brittle sorrel (£6.50)

There's also the "Dairy Sunday" that's pictured above - which is buttermilk ice cream, honeycomb, chocolate soil, milk crumbs, popping candy, maple syrup popcorn, crystalised chocolate and more. It will clearly be amazing. You'll be able to have that on their dessert bar.

Plus there's a "bespoke" tasting menu too at £38 which, like the Dairy, features a collection of the best of the menu (plus some extras). For a full look at the menu - and the drinks list - see the gallery below.

The Manor will open at 148 Clapham Manor Street, London SW4 6BX on 25 November 2014. They're having a soft launch from 18 November to 24 November with 25% off food. To book for the soft launch email them at reservations@themanorclapham. Once they open you can book a table on Open Table
