Popular food pub The Ship in Wandsworth is getting a bit of a swanky reburb. They're completely rebuilding their outside bar area, which fronts on the Thames, creating lots more seating outside. There's also going to be a new BBQ and a new menu.
They're currently closed until 6th March when they'll reopen with a new-look menu inside as well.
"There are a number of ‘golden brick’ dishes on our menu, including the sticky toffee pudding which has been the same for over 20 years, and the pork belly and the foie gras parfait which have remained unchanged for 3 years. These will not be changing," Jo Ellery, marketing manager for The Ship explained to Hot Dinners.
"Shaun [Harrington - the Ship's Head Chef] , Osh [Oisin Rogers - their GM and top Twitter bloke to follow] and our new sous chef Nathan Richardson are working together to develop a large number of new menu dishes."
"While it’s still the same pub you all know and love, everything’s going to be brand new and ten times better than before," she says, confidently.
We've got a sneak peek at the new menu and there are loads of new additions. New starters include Seared Scallops, Oyster and Samphire Risotto (£8.50) and Roasted Sweetbreads, Mushroom Croquette, Pea Shoots, Truffle Oil (£7.50). New mains include Chicken Breast, Crispy Wing Lollipop, Truffle Pasta, Buttered Spinach (£15.25), Venison Loin, Crepinette of Shank, Celeriac Fondant, Watercress Purée (£17.95) and Monkfish, Clam and Tomato Tart, Baby Vegetables, Saffron Cream (£14.50). And finally there are some fab sounding desserts including Poached Rhubarb Jelly, Vanilla Custard, Rhubarb Sorbet, Almond Crumble (£5.95) and Treacle Tart, Clotted Cream Ice Cream, Ginger and Lemon Syrup (£5.95).
There are also changing specials, a new side of smoked garlic mash and saddle of lamb is being added to the Sunday menu too.
The Ship will reopen on Wednesday 6th March - with the outside area reopening on Friday 8th March - find out more on their website.
