The next Galvin restaurant is in the Centurion Club, St Albans

They've been very busy in London of late with Hop and the Athenaeum, but for their next, the Galvin Brothers are heading outside of London to St Albans, opening at the Centurion Club. Apparently, it's a place they've been attracted to for a while, as Jeff Galvin says he "was initially introduced to Centurion Club a few years ago through my passion for golf."

The new restaurant (open to all, not just club members) will seat 84 and will have a terrace and three private rooms too. As for the menu, expect seasonal dishes, kicking things off with the following:

  • Lasagne of Dorset crab, beurre Nantais - 14.50 (pictured above)
  • Velouté of broad beans & smoked duck, soft boiled duck egg - 6.50
  • Ballotine of Peterhead cod, roast baby artichokes, aioli & pea shoots - 21.50
  • Roast corn fed chicken, girolle & onion tart, mushroom & thyme velouté - 22.50
  • Pigs head croquettes, apple & frissé salad, sauce gribiche - 15.50
  • Cumbrian rib-eye steak, duck fat chips & sauce - 26.50
  • Chilled chocolate fondant, honeycomb, banana & yogurt ice-cream - 8.50
  • Provence apricot & Valrhona chocolate soufflé - 8.50
  • Iced prune & Armagnac parfait - 6.50

Plus, they'll have a prix-fixe for lunch and early dinner of 2/3 courses 16.50/19.50. It's definitely a place to watch and, as fairly frequent visitors to St Albans ourselves, we think it'll be greeted with open arms in the area.

Galvin at Centurion Club opens in September at Centurion Club, Hemel Hempstead Rd, St Albans, Hertfordshire HP3 8LA. For more, follow them on twitter @galvin_brothers.
