Another food pop-up is finding a semi-permanent home as The Mussel Men land in Dalston at 428 Kingsland Road (formally Dead Dolls Club).
The main event on the menu will, of course, be mussels – heaps of them in various sauces served with fries. A portion of mussels with fries will be £10 – and you can add on a glass of house Prosecco for an extra £4 (a meal deal for two of 1kg mussels with frites and a bottle of house Prosecco is also available for £45).
They’re pairing up with Islington fishmonger/ raw bar Prawn on The Lawn to add lots more seafood to the menu - pan fried mackerel with wasabi Waldorf salad as well as baby squid with roast fennel, tomato and olive Scallops with sauerkraut and bacon. There’s the one dessert too - waffle with fruit compote, cream and chocolate sauce for £4.50.
Weekend brunches will add eggs Royale, kedgeree and kippers and for Sundays they’ll be pulling together their version of the Sunday roast with “specially made platters filled to the brim with seafood straight from the British Isles”. This will be £18‐£25, including mussels, clams, razors, oysters, langoustine, prawns, crab claws, seasonal veg + salad, frites - and lobster is also available with an added supplement.
At the weekend, it’ll open until 2am, a useful late night snack option with wine and beer and cocktails at £6 each including the Pirate Sailor Jerry Seven Seas Rum Punch and Seadog Sally Aperol sour. The customary arm wrestling and thumb wars will continue into the night.
The Mussel Men will be at 428 Kingsland Road from November 28th, six days a week, and until 2am Friday and Saturday. For more information, follow them on Twitter.
