There's been a lot of chatter about it, but now we can bring you the full details about The Good Egg which is opening in Stoke Newington this summer.

You may have swung by one of their market stalls, or eaten at one of their pop-ups, but now The Good Egg is making the move to permanent premises with an all-day neighbourhood restaurant on Stoke Newington Church Street.

Founder Joel Braham, alongside ex-Ottolenghi baker Oded Mizrachi and chefs Alex Coppard and Myles Broscoe have taken over a Grade II listed restaurant site and will be serving up a menu inspired by their childhoods and travels. For Myles that means bagels from his home town of Montreal; for Oded it's the stuffed pitas from Tel Aviv; and for Joel it's the street-side crispy fried chicken and chilaquiles he ate in California.

"We source the best ingredients we can find," says Joel, "smoke our own fish and meats, bake our own hand rolled bagels and breads, and cook beautiful seasonal vegetables with bright, simple flavours. You'll find homemade dill pickles on our menu next to za'tar fried chicken, pink pastrami short-rib and these delicious Iraqi stuffed egg pitas we tried in Jerusalem.”

There's a number of dishes they're holding out as signature - the short-rib pastrami, sliced by hand at the table and served with thick cut rye, mustard and homemade pickles and then there's The Good Egg Burger - an aged beef and bone marrow patty topped with pickled onion, Russian dressing and a runny egg in a challah roll.

We reckon there's going to be a lot of elbowing for tables here for the weekend all-day brunch feasts. Personally, we're looking forward to trying the Jerusalem Breakfast which features lots of little plates like shakshuka with preserved lemon yoghurt, homemade bagels with smoked black cod and salmon, eggs rothko and challah french toast with date syrup.

For drinks there'll be a small selection of London craft beers including Partizan brewery's beers as well as a brief cocktail list. Wines are sourced from their Church Street locals, Borough Wines.

The Good Egg opens on Stoke Newington Church Street on 29 October 2015 for a soft launch with a full launch on 3 November. To book, email bookings@thegoodeggco.com. Keep up with their news on Twitter @TheGoodEgg_.
