The Culpeper to open rooftop Greenhouse grill and bar in the City

culpeper revised

24/7/15 - updated with the menu

Well this sounds like it'll be a popular spot for the summer. Having only relatively recently opened their first floor restaurant, the team at The Culpeper gastropub in Spitalfields are on the verge of opening the rooftop greenhouse bar and grill. The fourth floor space already features growing beds packed with homegrown vegetables, salad leaves and herbs for the kitchen. Now they're opening The Greenhouse on top of the fourth floor roof so you can enjoy the view, while being protected from the vagaries of the British summer.

The space will also have its own bar serving signature cocktails with tinctures made using produce from the roof, and a bespoke grill designed by Mark Parr of the London Log Company. The menu will be pretty basic featuring cuts of from The Ginger Pig matched with salads from the garden. Expect lamb chops, sardines, or scallops or maybe a butterflied whole chicken for the table. There are a range of sauces and four salads including a rooftop variety. For dessert choose from two puddings of grilled peaches and marscapone or Gariguette strawberry Eton mess.

The Greenhouse bar and grill opens on 25 June 2015 at The Culpeper, 40 Commercial Street, London E1 6LP  and will be open for both for lunch and dinner. Mon to Sun: 12PM – 3PM and 6PM-10PM (Bookings). For the bar it'll be walk-ins only 12pm to 11pm. Keep up with their news on Twitter @theculpeper
