The Bowler opens Street Food Kitchen at the Horse and Groom

bowlerMeatball purveyors The Bowler were one of the earlier street trucks to help kick off London's currant vibrant street food scene. Now they're taking their meatballs to the newly refurbished Horse and Groom pub in Shoreditch for a long-term residency, as Street Food Kitchen.

What to expect from The Street Food Kitchen

Obviously, that kitchen will have a big meatball focus. It will be featuring the favourites from the Bowler's truck and their recent book too. So expect Ball Boxes, which have a couple of the balls paired with rice or pasta. There's "pork shoulder and beef chuck steak and tomato sauce", "Beef chuck, chorizo and cheddar with plum tomato salad and smokey aioli" and for the vegetarians "Spinach, chickpea and ricotta with cumin soured cream and crispy shallots". Alongside that there's their meatball sub, sliders, houmous meatball and vegetable wrap and hand cut fries with rosemary sea salt on the side.

There will be take-out. The main eating area will be upstairs but, even though it's a residency, if you're in the area you'll still be able to take food away too as well as a downstairs DJ Snacks table set up by the DJ booth. That'll have nachos and sliders available to the pub downstairs.

And takeovers are planned too. They're already planning kitchen takeovers from fellow street food traders Anna Maes Mac ‘n’ Cheese, Luardos Mexican and Spit ‘n’ Roast. And if you want to create something at home, the Street Food Pantry will be selling various condiments to take away that started out being sold on the street including The Ribman & Prairie Fire BBQ hot sauces and Popcorn Kitchen goodies.

The Horse and Groom is at 28 Curtain Rd, London EC2A 3NZ. The Street Food Kitchen will be open lunch Mon-Fri 12-2pm, Evenings (including Saturday) 6.30-9.30pm. For more information, follow the Bowler on Twitter @TheBowlerUK
