Food writers and chefs flocked to Portland Place last night for the launch of Phaidon's beautiful Faviken book, hosted by the Ambassador of Sweden at her residence.
Hot Dinners spotted Observer Food Monthly editor Allan Jenkins and food writers Thane Prince and Xanthe Clay, as well as chefs Gizzie Erskine and James Lowe in the throng, all drawn to meet the chef and author of the book, Magnus Nilsson, whose remote Swedish restaurant Faviken is currently no 34 in the World's 50 Best List.
Ambassador Nicola Clase (pictured right introducing Magnus) told guests that one of her embassy staff was a trend spotter who had recommended Magnus's work to her. When we caught up briefly with Magnus who's been working like crazy to promote the book, starting with a breakfast at Hix Tramshed on Monday, we wondered if he'd had a chance to eat out at all while in London.
"I went to Koya yesterday," he told us, "which was brilliant. And tonight I'm going to St John's for dinner. I'm really excited about it, it's my favourite restaurant in London."
