There's a great story today in The Mirror - staff at a Tower Bridge restaurant apparently got so fed up with ranty abuse from former cabinet minister David Mellor, that they taped him.
According to the story there’s a bit of history between Mellor and the River Lounge restaurant – he’s complained about the noise coming from the establishment on several occasions. Clearly staff at the restaurant had had their fill of mouthy Mellor as the next time he came round they made a secret recording of him.
The tape resurfaced at a licensing hearing where their barrister Gary Grant played the recording which has Mellor calling one waiter ‘a fat bastard’ telling him to ‘Fuck off and do your £10-an-hour job elsewhere.' Presumably the former Tory minister has the good sense not to eat at the restaurant - goodness only knows what would happen to his food if he did.
