(Updated 22/11 with soft launch details)
Ever since the restaurant at Ransome's Dock closed this summer, Battersea residents have been waiting to find out who'll take over. Well Hot Dinners has the answer. The restaurant will become Source - an all-day restaurant with a whole host of interesting people involved in its opening.
Husband and wife team Johan and Elsa De Jager - who have worked at places as various as New York's Eleven Madison Place (where Elsa was front of house for two years) and Sophie's Steakhouse have taken over the space. They'll open Source on 29 November, kicking off with coffee and pastries in the morning and then serving lunch and dinner.
The menu will be taking a seasonal approach with daily rillettes, seafood chowder, and bourbon bread & butter pudding. And it all sounds pretty reasonable with starters priced from £5, mains from £12 and wine by the glass from £3.50.
As for the name, well it refers to the fact that the restaurant actually has its own well underneath the site. They'll be serving it up (filtered) to diners with all profits from the sale going to Magic Breakfast - a charity funding breakfasts for schoolchildren all over London.
Source is now open on 29 November at Unit 29, Ransome’s Dock, 35-37 Parkgate Rd, SW11. There's a soft launch offering 50% off food until 29 November when it officially opens the doors. Bookings can be made by emailing info@sourcebattersea.com
