Smoke and Salt to start a year-long residency at the Chapel Bar, Islington

Smoke and Salt to start a year-long residency at the Chapel Cafe, Islington

There's a very promising new long-term residency kicking off in Islington next week. Smoke & Salt is being set up by chefs Remi Williams (Boston restaurants Craigie on Main and Deuxave) and Aaron Webster (previously at Michael Wignall at The Latymer and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal). They both worked at the highly rated The Shed in Notting Hill before deciding to go it alone.

Formerly a pop-up, their new residency will be in Islington for a year. On the top floor of the Chapel Bar, it'll be a small spot, with only 30 seats, with a five-course tasting menu at £38 a head. On the first menu is:

  • Sourdough pretzels, whipped olive oil butter
  • "Table treats"
  • Alliums, Cipollini, BBQ spring onion, coddled egg
  • Grilled Spring lamb, green garlic, sunchoke pickled okra
  • Pink grapefruit curd, elderflower yoghurt, pound cake
  • Petit Fours

They'll have cocktails beer and a small wine list alongside all of that too.

Smoke & Salt will be at The Chapel Bar at 29 Penton Street, London N1 2PX for Sunday - Thursday dinner. You can book on 07421 327 556. They fully launch on 30 May, but also have a soft launch on 24, 25 and 27 May - you can grab tickets for that here. For more, follow them on Twitter @smokeandsaltldn.
