Selfridges has been making great use of its roof in recent summers, kicking things off with Pierre Koffmann's pop up and more recently with Bompas & Parr's boating lake.
Now they've announced a new event on the roof which is part of the store's Big British Bang festival taking place this summer, celebrating the Diamond Jubilee. The Big British Tea Party is taking the "high" in high tea rather literally with a tea shop on the roof, which will serve classic afternoon tea and light lunches.
In conjunction with this, and helpful if you want to work off those cakes, will be Bompas & Parr's latest installation. They'll be setting up a crazy golf course on the store's roof and for that authentic feel will be planting nearly 200 cypress trees up there for the occasion. We imagine they'll also be doing something to stop golf balls raining down on the cars in Oxford Street below.
The Big British Tea Party and Bompas & Parr crazy golf at Selfridges runs from May 31 - September 2, from 12-6pm daily. You can't book for the tea - just turn up - but you can book up to three weeks in advance for Crazy Golf.
