Selfridges launch Mr Selfridge menu and cocktails pop-up

selfridgesIf you've been watching the new ITV series Mr Selfridge, you might want to trot along to Oxford Street where the store behind the show has created a special pop-up restaurant and champagne bar.

The Tasting Room up on the second floor will feature a Mr Selfridge Recommends menu with dishes which are a modern version of "an original menu taken from a celebratory dinner held in honour of Mr H. Gordon Selfridge himself, when the store opened in the 1900s".

Shoppers can try gruyere croquettes with grain mustard, apple and mustard leaf (£8), Lam cutlets with Pommes Anna, capers mint and pancetta (£10.50) and finish with compressed winter fruit with clotted cream custard and spiced syrup (£7).

There'll also be a range of special cocktails (all at £12) The Millionaire - rum, apricot, brandy, sloe gin, grenadine and fresh lime juice, The White Lady - gin, cointreau, fresh lemon juice and egg white and The Maple Leaf – whiskey, maple syrup, and fresh lemon juice.

Elsewhere in store, Dolly's on the lower ground floor will put on a special Mr Selfridge Afternoon Tea Menu featuring finger sandwiches of shredded salt beef & pickled gherkin as well as smoked salmon & truffle caviar, served along with Mr Selfridge pastries and freshly baked scones with Selfridges own label jam and a pot of Selfridges tea (£21.00 for one - £40.00 for two).

Both the tea and pop-up run from 7 Jan - 31 March 2013.
