Roux chef moves on, Washington Post reviews London restaurants and more...

While Roux at Parliament Square has had some mixed reviews since its opening, most of the criticisms were aimed at the décor and design as opposed to the cooking itself.  So it was a surprise to hear that head chef Daniel Cox is already moving on after only 10 weeks.  A replacement is yet to be announced, and time will tell if the new chef decides to revamp the restaurant as well as the menu.

The Washington Post’s food critic takes a tour of  London restaurants – with Rasoi Vineet Bhatia, Harwood Arms and St John getting a look in.  All good choices – but with the Harwood Arms being the newest restaurant on the list, it would have been good to see something a little more adventurous.

Back in London, the Real Greek may have made a splash about listing the calorie count of every item on their menu, but it seems that few will follow, according to an investigation by the Independent.  Now we’ll just have to wait and see if Boris will introduce legislation with a bit more teeth, as seen in New York, or whether everyone will quietly forget about the whole thing.

And finally for those of you who indulged in Pierre Hermé’s macaroons at either Selfridges or Taste of London, there’s news that Hermé is finally opening his own shop in London.  After the salted caramel macaroons that Hot Dinners had at Taste, we’ll definitely be beating a path to its door when it opens in Belgravia on 1st September.
