The latest awards of the season have arrived with the announcement at midnight last night (very dramatic!) from the AA who have revealed seven new winners of three AA rosettes across Britain. These rosettes (the range goes from one to five rosettes) include two London winners. And what do they mean? Well apparently three rosettes denotes "outstanding restaurants that achieve standards that demand recognition well beyond their local area."
First up is Hakkasan Mayfair, which also won a Michelin star this year, the latest offshoot of the Hakkassan brand (which is gearing up to launch in New York in 2012). Another winner was Roganic, the two year pop-up by Simon Rogan with Ben Spalding in charge. Spalding tweeted this morning: "Blimey, awoke to carnage on the news feed. The whole team deserves it & have done the inspirational Simon Rogan proud." Rogan himself said of the news: "Absolutely thrilled about it, to be in the top 10% in such a short space of time is a great achievement. The team have worked really hard and I'm really pleased that all their hard work has paid off."
Outside of London, a notable three rosettte winner was Tuddenham Mill which has been rapdily gaining plaudits this year, including best young chef of the year for Paul Foster in the Observer Food Monthly awards.
The full list of three rosette winners is:
