Update - Rock Lobsta runs from 23 - 26 June. For more details, visit their site.
Londoners who've been to New York, sampled that city's very fine lobster rolls and then come home hankering after it and unable to find the real deal, will be decidedly happy to hear of a pop-up lobster roll bar opening in Shoreditch next month.
Rock Lobsta will open at Luna & Curious on 24-26 Calvert Avenue, E2 in late June, serving up a brief menu including The Lobsta Roll – a soft roll filled with UK lobster meat and your choice of mayonnaise, The Hackney Splitter – 50/50 Crab & Lobster, Brown Crab Roll, English Crayfish Roll and ½ Dozen English Fresh Water Crayfish – in the shell – served in a paper cone. Dressings include 1000 Lobsta Island Dressing, Crab Mayo, Aioli, Simple Lobsta Mayo and the intriguing sounding Sweet & Sour Sea Buckthorn. They'll only be using native UK-sourced lobster, crab and crayfish.
The venture is the brainchild of three foodies with rather impressive form in the food industry - Carl Clarke (former exec chef at U2's Clarence Hotel in Dublin), David Wolanski who runs top catering company the recipe and Adam Van den Bussche - the former General Manager of Harrods Food Halls.
'We each work in restaurants, catering and retail – we sometimes take it too seriously and there is no fun,' they told Hot Dinners. 'Rock Lobsta is the opposite – no seriousness, just fun.'
