We've had a few wine-matched dinners over the years but we rather like the sound of the twist that Randall and Aubin have introduced at their Soho restaurant.
Rather than match the wine to your food, you'll start out with the champagne list - available in half-bottles - and they'll suggest seafood to match your choice of booze. This includes:
- Half bottle of Moutard Champagne Prestige Rosé with R&A deep fried haddock & chips with tartar sauce & minted peas (£36.00 for one - £51.00 for two)
- Half bottle of Moutard Champagne Brut Reserve with half lobster roasted in garlic butter with pommes frites (£40.00 for one - £60.00 for two)
- Half bottle of Herbert Premier Cru with Assiette de Fruits de Mer oysters, crab, pink prawns, mussels, cockles, scallops & whelks (£50.00 for one)
So if your choice of fizz is likely to be more important than your food this weekend - head down to the champagne bar at Randall & Aubin.
