If there’s one website you should bookmark this week (other than our own, dear readers) it’s www.putneypopup.co.uk which will have details on how to book your seat at the mother of all pop-up restaurants raising money for Haiti.
Chefs and restaurants who’ve already signed up for one-nighters include The Square’s Philip Howard and Rowley Leigh of Le Cafe Anglais. And for Londoners who’ve always liked the idea of eating at Rick Stein’s Padstow restaurant, but haven’t fancied the five hour trek it takes to get there – there’ll be a chance to book a night dining chez Stein too on the 23rd March.
In total, nine nights in March have been booked up by the redoubtable restaurateur Rebecca Mascarenhas – who’ll be hosting the event at her Phoenix restaurant in Putney which is currently closed for refurbishment. Mascarenhas recently opened Kitchen W8 with Howard.
The cost of taking part in such an event will be £60 of your earth pounds, reports Bloomberg’s Richard Vines who broke the news of this event today. You’ll have to bring your own booze, and all profits will got to Action against Hunger’s work in Haiti.
Update 15 February 2010: The site is now live and taking bookings and some new names have been added to the list of chefs, including Caribbean chef Patrick Williams who runs The Terrace in Lincoln's Inn Fields, Bruce Poole of Chez Bruce and TV chef Jesse Dunford Wood.
