Update - find out more about the menu here.
Polpo's Russell Norman and Richard Beatty have, after much speculation, finally announced their fifth restaurant in just over two years.
Steering away from the Italian influenced Polpo and Polpetto, but still retaining the New York inspiration, the pair are opening Mishkin's: "a kind of Jewish deli with cocktails".
The Polpo group's head chef Tom Oldroyd is in charge of the menu which will be offering up a contemporary look at Jewish classics. Promised dishes include Brick Lane salt beef on soda bread, a classic Ruben sandwich on rye, oxtail cholent, cod cheek popcorn and house-smoked beef brisket hash & eggs. Polpo and particularly Spuntino are both reknowned for their cocktails and gin based cocktails will be a speciality of Mishkin's.
And following the recent decision of Polpetto to take reservations, Mishkin's will also take bookings throughout the day and is open all week long. So if you want to book one of the leather booths, you won't have to queue out onto the road.
Mishkin's opens in November on 25 Catherine Street (that's next to the Opera Tavern) in Covent Garden.
