Patty and Bun announces new West end burger restaurant

pattyandbunUPDATE - we took an early look at Patty & Bun.

Burger entrepreneur Joe Grossman, founder of the roving pop up 'Patty and Bun', has just announced plans to open a 30 cover restaurant off Wigmore Street, central London next month.

Grossman, an alumnus of London Bridge restaurant Roast has held residencies under the Patty and Bun moniker over the last 6 months at the Doodle Bar in Battersea and Endurance pub in Soho.

Patty and Bun will transform the former Stockpot site at 54 James Street, W1 just north of Bond Street station, into a 30 cover lunchtime and evening destination which is ‘understated simple and fun'. Orders will be accepted for takeaway in addition to those who come to eat in. Because of its size, Patty and Bun will operate a no reservations policy, however there will be a small waiting area.

The menu will be 'short, focused and affordable using the best of British ingredients wherever possible' Grossman told Hot Dinners, featuring eccentrically-titled numbers such as the 'Ari Gold' cheeseburger and 'Jose jose' chilli burger popular at previous pop-up events. Most items on the menu have seen further development with the help of Mark Jankel (founder of the popular Street Kitchen street food concept) who has helped to tweak the products in line with ethos of doing ‘a few things as best as they can possibly be’. A lamb burger and weekly specials will also feature.

The drinks menu follows the same direction as the food, made up of a 'small and focused' offering of cult beers, spirits and fun cocktails such as 'Rum 'n' Ting' and an Appleton 12 year old Rum Punch. Whilst the menu is yet to be finalised, it has been hinted that prices will follow that of previous residencies, with burgers ranging from £7-8.

'The menu is focused on bringing the Best of British in line with simple and quality ingredients' Grossman said. 'We are working to adapt the space to create a vibing, individual neighbourhood joint in an area predominantly dominated by chains'.

With MEATliquor and Tommi's both just around the corner, this area of the west-end really is becoming something of a destination for the discerning burger addict.

Patty and Bun will open in November 2012 at 54 James Street, London W1. For more information visit www.pattyandbun.co.uk
