Welcome back! If you've been out of town for most of Christmas and New Year, you might be wondering what - if anything - you've missed while you've been away. Well here's what happened:
The best of 2011
We ended 2011 with two large-ish stories - the first were our annual Hot Dinners eating out awards for which we create entirely subjective categories and award them purely on a wholly untransparent basis to the places we liked eating at the most this past year.
To counteract that, we also pulled together a piece to show the Best reviewed restaurants of the year, so you could see where London's reviewers had the most pleasure eating at in the past twelve months.
What better way to end the year with a massive round-up of the 100 restaurants of note that opened in London last year (yes, we're blaming the rampant restaurant scene, rather than our greed, for our ever-expanding waistlines).
Looking forward to 2012
So that was 2011, but what about the shiny new year we have ahead of us? To find out what's in store as far as new openings go, check out our exhaustive list of the restaurants due to open in London in 2012. It's going to be a busy year, folks.
And while we're on the subject of shiny new things - there's also our list of New Year resolutions for restaurants we'd love London's restaurateurs to take on board this year.
That's it for now - watch out for more breaking news in our weekly newsletter which is back in your in-boxes on Wednesday 4 January 2012.
