The Drift Bar at Heron Tower

Late last week, we popped along to the Drift Bar, the new bar ensconced at the foot of the Heron Tower. That's the new skyscraper dominating Bishopsgate - right opposite Liverpool Street station.
It's certainly a huge space, particularly the second level, and is surrounded by glass with an industrial feel permeating the place. Food wasn't on offer at the time, but there's a good selection of sharing plates and sandwiches on offer at a decent price. The wine list is also surprisingly affordable with the cheapest bottle of white at £14.
There's currently little like it in the immediate Liverpool Street area (at least until the Sky Bar opens at the top of the Heron Tower) so we expect it to be pretty popular with the local city folk.
Events
This week, Restaurants in Residence continues with Shacklwell nights taking over the Canary Wharf location. It's also Bastille Day Thursday - so keep an eye out for specuial deals/menus at your favourite Gallic restaurants.
And the 2 weeks Senses of Thailand promotion kicks off at Selfridges this week - look for all manner of Thai food related goodness, kicking off with a special dinner at Hix.
