New all-day Villiers Coffee Company and Dining Room coming from the family behind Gordon's

New all-day Villiers Coffee Company and Dining Room coming from the family behind Gordon's28/4 - updated with opening date

One of the most trusted old favourites in London is Gordon's Wine Bar on Villiers Street, where we've found ourselves on many an occasion over the years and which duly made our Best Wine Bars in London list this year. Now the people behind Gordon's are branching out with Villiers, on the same street. It's being billed as an all-day dining room, coming from the younger generation of the Gordon family. The whole operation really brings home how much of a family business it is.

Sophie Gordon will be in charge of the menus and the kitchen - saying "pure serendipity means we’re able to do so on the very same street where it all began for us.” Her sister Rose (both are pictured right) will look after the wine list and front of house and their father, Tom Gordon (who is an illustrator by trade) will be designing the menus and decor (And Tom's mother Wendy remains in charge of the original Gordon's wine bar). Got all that?

Villers will be open all day, offering coffee and breakfast in the morning and from mid-day there will be an informal, all-day menu of seasonal dishes. If you're working in the area or just visiting they'll offer a take-away selection of salads, pastries and cakes.

Confirmed for the menu are:

  • For breakfast - avocado on toast, fried eggs with corn bread and guacamole, and baked eggs with tomato and pepper stew.
  • Starters and snacks in the evening include plates of oysters or polenta chips; starters including truffle baked egg and soldiers, or tomato and burrata,
  • Mains include ribeye steak and chips, harissa baked mackerel, or rotolo with sage butter.
  • Puddings will include English raspberry gratin, London cheesecake, and hot chocolate pudding with honeycomb and salted caramel ice cream.

The bar at the front will be where you'll this food during the day after which it turns into a bar for eating and dining into the evening, Cocktails include La Gina, a twist on the negroni made with gin, Aperol and La Ina fino sherry.

Villers opens at 31a Villiers Street, London WC2N 6ND on June 9th 2014. For more information follow them on Twitter
