We're rather partial to a good pop-up restaurant, but details released last night of one planned for the 2011 London Restaurant Festival sound particularly brilliant. The Minotaur will take over the tunnels beneath the Old Vic offering food from top Michelin-starred chefs from across Europe between 10-25 October 2011.
Run by Kofler & Kompanie, pioneers behind European pop-up restaurant Pret a Diner, The Minotaur will mix fashion with art and food, transforming the tunnels into a "labyrinthine gallery of cutting-edge artwork and film" with a world-class restaurant and lounge-bar.
The chefs taking part are London's own Nuno Mendes of Viajante, Matthias Schmidt (Villa Merton, Frankfurt) and Juan Amador, (Amador, Mannheim).
Simon Davis, London Restaurant Festival Director admits to being particularly excited to have persuaded Pret a Diner to come to London. “I thought it would be a fantastic addition to the London Restaurant Festival's growing schedule of events. With the fabulous Old Vic Tunnels as a backdrop to some of the world's most inventive chefs this is just the sort of ingenious event that the capital should be hosting during the country's leading food and restaurant festival."
A three course meal at Pret a Diner including entrance to the exhibition will be priced at £75. Bookings will be available at 7pm and 9pm and tickets will be on sale from 10 September 2011. To find out more follow @Lazarides_Art on Twitter for or check www.theminotaur.co.uk
