Meatwagon opening MEATLiquor restaurant on Marylebone's Welbeck Street

Meatwagon opening MEATLiquor restaurant on Marylebone's Welbeck StreetAeons before Jamie Oliver featured it on his Jamie's Great Britain show, Meatwagon was a nigh-on legendary part of London's street food scene. Foodies would happily queue for hours for a taste of burgermeister Yianni Papoutsis's cheese or chilli burgers, rhapsodising over their superior quality and taste.

Now Yianni appears to be settling down, exchanging his wagon for bricks and mortar as he takes over an old Italian restaurant on Welbeck Street, Marylebone (although the Meatwagon itself isn't gone for good).

The new restaurant, MEATliquor, will serve up all the old favourite burgers, fried chicken, buffalo wings and Philly cheesesteaks as well as chilli cheese fries, a range of salads (which they call rabbit food) with soft-serve ice-creams and cream pies for dessert.

Drinks, in the form of jam jar cocktails, will come courtesy of Giles Looker from Soulshakers. There'll also be a range of quality wines and beers.

MEATliquor opens at 76 Welbeck Street, London W1 on 11 November 2011 and will serve from lunchtime to the 'small hours'.
