Marquess Tavern gastropub recruits Dalston's A Little Of What You Fancy

marquessInteresting moves afoot at the Marquess Tavern in Canonbury which has handed control of its kitchens over to the team from Dalston's A Little Of What You Fancy.

The Marquess, which was first run by Hawsksmoor's Will Beckett and Huw Gott when it had its makeover from old man's pub in 2006 was sold to a group of locals back in 2009. Last year they brought in chef Russell Gethin Jones from The Graze in Brighton to revitalise their food offering.

Dishes you can now expect to see on the new menu include local Stokie smokehouse Hansen & Lydersen smoked salmon with lemon and capers, new season lamb with Jersey Royals with white sprouting broccoli and garlic leaf dressing or broad bean, feta and mint arancini with cherry vine tomato sauce. Desserts include flourless chocolate cake with bay and a selection of Neal's Yard cheeses.

At weekends, they'll be rolling out a brunch menu including chorizo with poached egg, greek yoghurt and chilli jam or how about field mushrooms on toast with truffle oil. There'll also be a Sunday Lunch roast on offer.

The Marquess Tavern is at 32 Canonbury Road, London N1.
