Mark Hix takes over the second floor restaurant at Fenwick on Bond Street

In the restaurant world, as with so many others, as one door shuts another opens. And while Mark Hix may have closed his restaurant at Selfridges, he's now popped along to Bond Street where he's opening a restaurant in residence on the second floor at Fenwick today.

Mark’s at Fenwick of Bond Street takes over the old Bond and Brook restaurant on the department store's second floor. The all day restaurant will open from breakfast to early supper - closing at 7.30pm most days and a little later on Thursdays.

For breakfast you can expect the standard brunch fare of Eggs Benedict, De Beauvoir or Florentine or the rather lovely sounding blueberry drop scones with wild flower honey and crème fraiche.

For lunch dishes will include:

  • Spring pea and coconut soup with poached Loch Duart salmon
  • Orkney scallops with broad beans
  • Dorset blue lobster with sea kale and bacon (pictured)
  • Glenarm Estate spring lamb cutlets with Arminian aubergine salad

Or you could throw caution to the wind and order the Baked King Edward potatoes with Mottra Oscietra caviar for £30.

It wouldn't be a proper store restaurant without an afternoon tea service for weary shoppers and this will be no different. Mark's Afternoon Tea for £19.50 will have a selection of sandwiches and bridge rolls, fruit scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream and a selection of mini puddings served with a tea of your choice.

Mark’s at Fenwick of Bond Street is now open at Fenwick, 63 New Bond St, London W1A 1RQ . They'll be on soft launch for 18 and 19 April with 50% off food for pre-bookings only. Opening hours are Monday - Wednesday: 10:00 - 19:30; Thursday: 10:00 - 20:00; Friday - Saturday: 10:00 - 19:30 and Sunday: 12:00 - 19:30. For bookings, call 07541 742 148 or click here.
