It already has two of London's top restaurants, Bar Boulud and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal and now the Mandarin Oriental is about to add a new tea room to its collection, the Rosebery, which will transform into a champagne bar in the evening.
The new venue (which apparently takes its name from Lord Rosebery, although we're not 100% sure about his connection to the hotel) sees the space returning to its roots as it was originally a tea room in the 1920s, Afternoon tea will be served every day, with a choice of Breakfast, Afternoon and Directors Reserve blends that have been specifically created for the hotel by the East India Trading Company. These will be served with the traditional sandwiches, pastries, scones and seasonal jams that you can expect from a good old British afternoon tea. And entering into the evening, the drinks will change to champagne and cocktails (which, we have to admit, made us pay attention).
The room is designed by G&A Designs (also behind London's Northall and the Booking Office Bar at St Pancras), there's a new Rosebery China Collection by William Edwards (who's worked with The Ritz, The Goring, The Connaught and The Berkley), glassware by John Jenkins and uniforms will be designed by Charlotte Taylor.
The Rosebery Afternoon Tea and Champagne Salon is now open at the Mandarin Oriental, 66 Knightsbridge, London SW1X 7LA, United Kingdom.
