London restaurants form new ethical association

According to a survey by the newly-formed Sustainable Restaurant Association almost 70% of British diners think that restaurants aren’t doing enough to tackle social and environmental issues.

Clearly it’s an area that’s worth restaurant owners tackling, as the survey apparently found a similar proportion of diners said they were more likely to choose a restaurant which was up on its green and ethical credentials than one which had such modern horrors as a bottled water list or endangered fish on the menu.

The SRA will be launching formally later this month but it already has a host of top London restaurants signed up including Quo Vadis, Barrafina, Hawksmoor and Wahaca, whose owner Thomasina Miers is on the association’s advisory board, while Leon's co-founder Henry Dimbleby has joined the association as a director
