It seems that London's love affair with lobster knows no bounds - and now a new venue offering everything from lobster benedict to lobster rolls is coming to Hackney.
The appropriately-named Lobster Bar will open in Richmond Road - already home to the popular Lardo and Raw Duck. The team behind the popular Ivy's and Little Ivy's, Cristine Leone and Christina Lahaniati, say their latest venture will be offering fresh and sustainable seafood, from breakfast through to dinner.
They're promising more than just lobster, too: the menu will feature all sorts of seafood, including oysters with cucumber and ginger pickle, fishcakes and truffle fries on the side.
Both the owners grew up by the sea, and Cristine Leone says she'll be drawing on her Brazilian heritage with dishes like steak chimichurri. "We are always in search of the best lobster dish, and we've been discussing opening our own seafood restaurant for two years", Cristine told us, "When the site on Richmond Road became available, we knew straight away it was the perfect spot - the ceilings are high, the room is filled with light, and it's a great location".
There'll be 55 seats inside, with outside seating when the weather permits: and the team say they've deliberately kept the decor pared back to let the food be the star.
Lobster Bar will open on August 19th (with a soft launch on the 15th) at Unit 2, 205 Richmond Road, E8 3NJ. Reservations lobsterbarlondon@gmail.com or tel 0208 986 9630.
