Little Social's Canadian pop-up returns

litltesocialcanada

Originally set up for Canada Day, Jason Atherton's Little Social will once again transform into a Canadian lodge serving poutine, tourtière and Nanaimo bars.

The Mayfair restaurant will be temporarily renamed Little Social...Eh! for the occasion, and turned into a lodge with wooden signage, antler chandeliers, sheepskin and the requisite deer head to celebrate the day.

There'll be traditional Canadian poutine, made with chips covered in gravy and cheese curds, with the Little Social addition of maple-glazed morteau sausage. There'll also be tourtière, a traditional French-Canadian meat pie dish, plus nanaimo bar topped with custard flavour icing and chocolate.

On the cocktail front, there are a few special creations for the event using signature Canadian ingredients. Those who can't get enough of the increasingly popular whiskey-maple combo should definitely opt for The Maple Leaf Old Fashioned made with maple syrup, Canadian whisky, coffee bean bitters and orange zest. There'll also be the chance to try the Bloody Mary-esque Caesar with vodka and clamato juice (a blend of tomato juice and clam broth) mixed with hot sauce and Worcestershire sauce.

The event is being held in a nod to the heritage of the restaurant's Canadian chef-patron Cary Docherty.
