L'Etranger to expand next door with Meursault lounge bar and dining room

L'Etranger to expand next door with Meursalt lounge bar and dining roomL'Etranger restaurant in Kensington is to expand next door with a new lounge bar and dining room, called Meursault.

The new place, which takes its name from a Burgundy wine (and also the lead character in Camus's L'Etranger), will be split into two with a lounge bar that will offer molecular cocktails and small plates and a dining room offering will echo the fine dining experience of L'Etranger.  Among these - particular treats will be the dessert list that has 40 options, among them a good selection of Macaroons (including salted caramel and Coca-Cola), sorbets and ice cream.

The menu itself will have a distinct Japanese theme, created by Jerome Tauvron, Executive Chef of L'Etranger, and led by Meursault Head Chef Sang Keun Oh (currently head chef of L'Etranger). So expect plenty of sashimi, tartars, tempura and sharing platters plus a selection of mini burgers: Wagyu beef, venison, Dorset crab and lobster.

Meursault will offer a huge wine list to match its name - with one of the eight glasses of wine a week showcasing a wine from the Meursault region - and will have a strong focus on molecular cocktails, sake and prestige Champagnes.

Meursault opens in January at 36 Gloucester Road.
