[Updated 16/3/12 - we hear from someone who's managed to speak to Murata's team that his London restaurant will be "very simple food" also known as obanzai - the home cooking of Kyoto.
Right - be prepared to be very excited indeed as we hear that one of Japan's top chefs is bringing his multi-Michelin-starred restaurant to London.
Yoshihiro Murata, for those of you not in the know, runs three stellar restaurants. The 2012 Michelin guide Osaka Kobe Nara gave three Michelin stars for Kikunoi Honten and two stars each for Roan Kikunoi (both in Kyoto) and Akasaka Kikunoi in Tokyo.
According to the Japanese newspaper The Asahi Shimbu, Murata is bringing Kikunoi to London and opening before the Olympics. With the help of backers from the UAE he'll be opening up a 130 seat restaurant called Chrysan "on the first floor of a building in London's financial district".
It's not going to be cheap mind. Dinner tasting menus at Kikunoi in Kyoto start at around the £125 mark and go up to £200 a person. But it's a lot cheaper than a return flight to Japan.
New story - menu details plus location announced for Chrysan. Will open in September 2012.
