Krug Kreperie pops up with a menu by Pierre Koffmann

krugPopping up in Covent Garden just in time for Christmas is the six day Krug Kreperie experience. Two French chalet inspired dining pods each seating six people, plus a bar, can be found in the East Piazza until 8th December at which point they'll move to Koffmann’s at The Berkeley in Knightsbridge until mid January.

Hot Dinners popped down to try it out on the first night. Each pod features heated benches draped with sheepskin and lovely warm blankets to wrap yourself in, plus beautiful crystal chandeliers. They're probably great fun during the day, but they really look quite marvellous when the sun goes down.

There's a choice of six crepes to be had - created by Pierre Koffmann - three each of sweet and savoury. We stuck to savoury, trying both the Parmesan and mixed wild mushroom crepes. But you could also go for a cold crab crepe with green apple and wasabi or one sprinkled with crunchy caramelised pistachio - a dish inspired by Koffmann's famous pistachio souffle.

The price for a pancake plus a glass of Krug Grande Cuvée is £35. Yes it's steep, but it would make a lovely pitstop to any shopping trip - or a nice early Christmas present for someone.
