Koya launch new "Backbench" tasting menuKoya, Soho's favourite udon noodle bar is getting a special new menu to celebrate its fourth birthday. Chef Junya Yamasaki's BackBench set menu is specially designed to let him go "beyond the blackboard" and create a tasting menu - Koya style. This seven or eight course menu will change every time there's a BackBench event. For instance, a recent meal incuded:

  • Fresh Kombu & Barmley Ponzu
  • Jellied Eel and Komatsuna Miso Soup
  • Burdock, Wild Carrot & Wild Chervil Root 'Kimpira'

It's limited to a single five seater bench at - unsurprisingly - the back of Koya and will cost £39, which sounds like a steal for such a unique menu (and there will be Sake pairings offered too). 

The next BackBench is on 14th April with lunch at 1.30pm and two suppers at  6.30pm and 9pm. If you want one of the five spaces, the reservations will open on Monday April 7th at noon - after that time, email them at
