Kerbisher & Malt in Shepherd's Bush and Ealing are often brought up by many as their favourite fish and chip shop in London but if you haven't been west to visit them so far, they may be about to come to your area,
In fact, they're spreading out in all directions, with three new Kerbisher & Malts planned for the next few months.
First up, they've just gone much further west and opened up in East Sheen (Richmond - pictured) yesterday. There (like in the other upcoming branches), they'll be focusing on their fresh, sustainably-sourced fish which can be fried in matzo meal or grilled while sides will include twice fried chips, mushy peas and pickled onion rings. They'll also have calamari, whitebait, half pints of prawns, fish finger butties, pork sausages and "spicy veg bites". Prices are around £7 for a standard portion of fish and chips, And Meantime beers will be available to wash it all down with.
The two other branches planned to open in April/May are in Clapham, which will be more along the lines of the existing restaurants (seating around 30), and one in Farringdon which will be more of a takeaway for nearby city folk (but with 10 seats if you manage to grab one).
Behind the designs of the restaurants will be Alexander Waterworth, who helped them win a restaurant and bar design award (Best Designed Fast/Casual Restaurant) - with the Clapham branch particularly having a more modern look than before.
The Kerbisher & Malt at East Sheen is open now at 170 Upper Richmond Road West, London SW14 8AW. Clapham will open in April at 50 Abbeville Road, London SW4 9NF and Farringdon will open in May. More openings are planned later in the year too.
