Already popular in Maida Vale, Persian restaurant Kateh is opening a second restaurant in Knightsbridge. They'll be serving up a wide range of Persian cooking, seven days a week.
What you need to know about Kateh
It's the second Kateh, following on from the Maida Vale original. It's taking the space of the recently departed Chabrot Bistro D'amis. It's split over two floors with the top floor also working as a private dining room that can seat 25.
The focus is on Persian cuisine "from the Caspian Sea, all the way to the coast of the Persian Gulf".
Starters will be tapas style. Seafood dishes will include chargrilled Octopus served with warm potatoes and capers, or “kookoo mahi”- a fresh crab cake, with chives, coriander, and chilli. Plus there's “Zaboon” (Lamb tongue with basil and roasted peppers), and Kabab Ahoo (chargrilled venison with rocket and pomegranate salad). They're also taking over some popular dishes from the Maida Vale restaurant, including Mirza Ghassemi (grilled and smoked aubergines, crushed free range eggs, with a blend of tomato and garlic) and Koofteh Berenji (Persian meat balls with rice, split peas, minced beef, fresh plums and herbs).
Mains will be split into stews and chargrilled meats. All the meat will come from Rhug Estate farm in Wales. There will be Kabab Torsch (chargrilled marinated lamb in pomegranate juice, crushed walnuts, young grapes and fresh mint served over jeweled saffron rice) and Beef Sirloin Tikka (fresh coriander, mint, ginger, garlic and fresh chilli marinated chargrilled 28-day aged Scotch Sirloin steak served with broccoli, Turkish yoghurt and paprika).
Expect traditional Persian flatbread too. This will be from the Persian style bread oven, where they'll be making “taftoon” - homemade organic, brown and white flour flatbread.
Where is it? 9 Knightsbridge Green, London SW1X 7QL
When does it open? The soft launch starts on 21 November.
