Jesse Dunford Wood's had great success with the Mall Tavern in Notting Hill (which we loved on a visit last year) and the recently revamped Stag in Hampstead. Now he's turning his attentions to a new opening in Kensal Green called Parlour. We caught up with him to find out more...
The Parlour is a revamp of the Regent in Kensal Green - what can you tell us about the planned changes?
We wanted a change in direction for our first business, taken on 6 years ago by Jonathan and Andy Perritt, my business partners. We wanted something a little more in line with what we are doing at the Mall Tavern and The Stag in Hampstead, with more of a food lean. There are lots of physical changes and we will no doubt attract a rather different crowd.
We will be opening in the morning for breakfast, wifi and coffee and will be serving food all day until 1am. There's a clean design, with Michaelis Boyd Associates doing the interior architecture, a strong food offer and an amazing bar with a great range of beers & cocktails. We are calling it an "all day and late night serving Parlour".
Not a restaurant, nor a pub.
And can you give us an idea of what to expect from the menu?
We'll be starting the morning with unlimited toasted "Yesterday's Bread' and the Parlour 'No Subs' full English breakfast. There will be fishcakes for lunch and pot roast chicken for dinner and our late night menu featuring Cow Pie - which is also available all day every day. As for drinks, lots of unknown beers, Hawaiian, Strange Yankie ones, and wine on tap too, pink, white and red.
Finally, what's the opening date?
We'll be fully open for business as of Monday 22 October (also the day of my 35th Birthday) from 10am. We may have some soft opening shifts this week, so keep an eye on @ParlourUK for updates.
