Jason Atherton announces two night charity pop-up for LRF 2010

jason athertonWe're already excited about the upcoming London Restaurant Festival (4-18 October) - what with the supper clubs, festival menus and special events. Now there's one more reason to look forward it - news that Jason Atherton will be running a special festival pop-up restaurant.

Atherton is the former head chef of Maze who left Gordon Ramsay Holdings in Spring to start work on his first solo venture - the upcoming Pollen Street Social which will open in January 2011. He'll be taking over 28 Binney Street, just off Oxford Street for two nights. It'll be a good opportunity for Atherton to test the kind of dishes the Pollen Street Social will be serving, and for London's diners to get a preview taste of what to expect.

The dinners on October 4 and 5 will help raise money for Street Smart, the official charity of the London Restaurant Festival 2010 and also the Evening Standard's Dispossessed Fund and there are only 36 places available each night.

Atherton said of his temporary venture: 'As I am not opening my new restaurant until January 2011 I really want to use my time to put something back into London and so I had this idea to do a pop-up restaurant I'm really excited about it.'

Tickets are a punchy £150 but all money raised after costs will be donated to charity. If you're interested, call 020 7280 0700 to make a reservation.
