January deals and offers in London restaurants

oystersFor Hot Dinners, January is far from being a depressing month. With a large number of Londoners steering clear of bars and trying to tighten their purse strings, the field is left clear for us to enjoy London's finest establishments without having to proffer our first-born to secure a table.

That said, it's always pleasing to take advantage of the many deals on offer, designed to entice the miserable January giver-uppers back into restaurants and bars. Here's our pick of some of the best restaurant deals on offer in London at the moment.

  • The newly-opened QV bar at Quo Vadis on Dean Street is offering an opening deal for half a dozen oysters and a glass of champagne for £10.
  • There’s another bivalve bargain over at Corrigan’s Mayfair which is offering half a dozen oysters with a glass of matching white wine for £9.95.
  • From oysters to fish and chips, J Sheekey’s have brought back their fish and chips offer for January 2011. They’re offering theatre goers (or cunning early evening diners) fish and chips and a glass of house wine for £16.50 from 5.30pm to 7pm, from Monday to Friday evenings.
  • Another offer rewarding those who eat earlier is available at Renaissance Pubs which include The Avalon and The Abbeville in Clapham and The Bolingbroke in Battersea. If you eat there before 20.11pm (in 2011 – geddit?) you receive 50% off your food bill as long as you have the voucher you download from here.
  • If you’re hoping to save money and lose weight you might want to try London bars, the refinery, the parlour, The Anthologist or The Folly who are offering a Skinny Beefburger and any Skinny Cocktail for just £10. The burger, made with Allens of Mayfair beef, is served sans bun but with a salad and a choice of drinks including a Skinny Russian Rose Martini. Quote ‘skinny deal’ when placing your order.
  • Down in deepest Battersea, the relatively new Fish Place is offering diners the opportunity to pay what they think their meal is worth. This deal runs between 25-30th January. Make a reservation at www.thefishplace.co.uk.
  • Finally, The Sunday Times is just about to start its annual Eat Out From £5 campaign. We took a quick look at the restaurants on offer this year, and to be honest it’s slim pickings. But one deal did catch our eye – two courses for £5 lunch at the St Pancras Grand champagne bar, which we thought sounded pretty good.
