November may traditionally be the month you think of easing back on the booze in preparation for the Christmas party season, but we've got one wine-fuelled date you should definitely put in your diaries.
The London Wine Sessions is a one day affair with some frankly brilliant food and wine players taking part. The Clerkenwell event features top wine authorities such as Jancis Robinson and Tom 'WineChap' Harrow talking about wine, some amazing food, a pop-up bar and a chance to taste wines chosen by London's savviest oenophiles.
The list of people taking part is really rather impressive - in addition to Jancis and Wine Chap there there'll be sommeliers from Clove Club, Quo Vadis and Ruth Spivey who's responsible for Street Vin. Sager & Wilde will be tending the pop-up bar and (always important) there'll be great food from the likes of Trullo and James Lowe. Hell they've even got Daniel Willis of Clove Club coming round to DJ and his playlists are great.
Tickets for the various sessions start at £15 (with a portion of money from the festival going to the charity 2Water.org) which seems like a bargain when you look at who's behind the London Wine Sessions. There's Emily O'Hare - head sommelier and wine buyer at the River Café, food writer Sophie Dening, wine writer (and sometime Hot Dinners contributor) Zeren Wilson aka BittenWritten and last, but not least, the folk behind the TOAST food festival.
The London Wine Sessions takes place from 11am–10pm on Saturday 23 November at The Crypt on the Green, Clerkenwell Close, London EC1. Tickets cost from £15 and can be bought here www.toastfestival.com/events
