Last year saw Islington star Christoffer Hruskova move to Smithfields, and now another Islington mainstay is joining him. Morgan Meunier, whose fine dining restaurant on Liverpool Road in Islington has been a local favourite for years, has been rumoured to be heading deeper into town for a few months. Now he's opened his new site on Long Lane in the Barbican.
The new restaurant will be a two storey affair - with the upper level following the "haute cuisine" format of the Islington original, while the ground floor will be more informal and focus on tasting plates - while still showcasing the haute cuisine cooking. It's designed by Creative House, who were also responsible for the original in Islington.
From the new restaurant, you'll be able to have a great-value set lunch at £21.50 for two courses, an evening tasting menu for £50 Example dishes are ravioli of snails in Chablis, seared pressed foie gras with fig caviar and toasted brioche, butternut soup with rosemary and olive oil and wild mushroom tempura and a dessert we definitely feel like trying - pina colada sorbet.
As with the Islington restaurant, the new place will also fully embrace those who are meat-free with a "garden tasting menu".
The new restaurant will be the flagship, although the original Morgan M will remain open for dinner only from Wednesday to Friday. It's open now. Find out more.
