Islington's Prawn on the Lawn gets bigger

Islington's Prawn on the Lawn gets biggerWhen it launched late last year, Islington fishmonger and wine bar Prawn on the Lawn was an instant hit with the locals. The space for drinking and eating was a little restricted upstairs, however, but now they're growing a little larger.

They've been expanding downstairs where they're in the process of finishing up their new dining room (you can see the work's nearly complete in the photo). Originally the site of a huge butcher's fridge (and with a hidden fireplace revealed during the works), the downstairs spot seats 12 (two sets of 2 and 4 tables) and unlike the pop-in upstairs can be reserved (and also booked for private parties). They'll be serving the same menu upstairs and downstairs - so that means plenty of prawns, crab, lobster, ceviches and more.

They're hoping to open fully in March - and in the meantime are aiming to open a few test nights beforehand (licences permitting). So if you're hoping to visit the new space - keep following them on Twitter @prawnonthelawn for the latest news.
