Given the total meltdown London's foodie network went into the last time the chaps behind Hawksmoor opened a new restaurant, we fully expect news that a third Hawsksmoor is on the way will send everyone into a total tizzy.
Will Beckett and Huw Gott will be opening the third Hawksmoor steak restaurant and cocktail bar this autumn on the corner of Basinghall Street and Gresham Street in the City (just across from The Anthologist if you're trying to place it). They're using the same designers responsible for creating the beautiful dining room at Hawksmoor Seven Dials (which won it Hot Dinners' Most beautifully put-together dining room award last year).
We like the sound of the walk-in wine room where they'll hold tastings of an extended list of wines by the glass. But perhaps more excitingly, Hawksmoor Guildhall, as it will be called, will also have the honour of being the first restaurant in London to have a dedicated Port enomatic machine offering a range of fine ports by the glass.
The restaurant will open in October with 160 seats in the restaurant, 75 in the bar and a private dining room seating 22. As for the food, we're told that Hawksmoor’s Executive Chef Richard Turner is working on several new dishes, but there will still be a focus on meat - particularly steaks and burgers.
